About
There are many online platforms that allow you to upload photos and videos to share with friends, family, or even strangers. Like many others, I used these services: I signed up, uploaded photos, added descriptions, and shared links.
Over time, I got a camera capable of capturing 360-degree panoramic photos and videos. At first, I uploaded my photos to Google Street View and videos to YouTube to share them with my friends. However, I quickly realized that these platforms weren’t very convenient—uploading content was complicated, and viewing it was even more difficult. At the time, there weren’t really any services that made this process easier.
The Idea Behind the Website
That’s when I had the idea: to create my own website where I could upload my panoramic travel content and share it with friends. Recently, I finally brought this idea to life. Now, I can easily publish my 360-degree photos and videos, and my friends can view them without hassle.
When the site was ready, I wondered: maybe better solutions have appeared since I first had this idea? I searched for alternatives but couldn’t find anything truly convenient. Even ChatGPT suggested some services, but none of them offered the level of usability I envisioned.
This motivated me to work even harder on my site: I refined the code, improved the design, uploaded some panoramas, and shared them with my friends. They all agreed that viewing this type of content is now much easier than before.
Project Development
After the first steps, I decided to expand the site’s capabilities:
- Multilingual interface – The site now supports multiple languages.
- User registration (in progress) – In the future, users will be able to upload their own panoramic photos and videos and share them with friends.
- Cloud storage integration – I currently don’t have the financial resources to store large amounts of user-generated content, so I’m implementing a system where:
- users can upload their photos and videos to Google Drive or any other cloud storage of their choice,
- then add a link to the content on my site and view it with full 360-degree interactivity.
This way, users retain full control over their media files, and I avoid the responsibility of storing them.
In the future, I plan to:
- add support for embedding YouTube videos with panoramic viewing,
- integrate more storage options for hosting photos and videos,
- enhance the user interface, making it as intuitive as Instagram,
- implement a like system and possibly comments.
